Watts Contemporary Gallery
Watts Gallery is pleased to announce that we have made it into the long list for the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Award. Out of hundreds of museums across the country Watts Gallery has made it into the final twenty. The long list was announced in The Telegraph last weekend. Read The Telegraph article here.
The nominees are judged by a panel of experts and then visited by families who act as secret shoppers. They judge the facilities and the activities on offer for families according to the Kids in Museums Manifesto. The Manifesto is a 20 point guide to engaging with family audiences. It includes tips like ‘say hello!’, ‘chat online’, and ‘don’t say ssshhhush!’ Watts Gallery along with 550 museums across the country have committed to putting the 20 points into practice.
Why not see what Watts Gallery has to offer families this summer? We are running workshops based on our current exhibition Ellen Terry: the Painter’s Actress, hosting FREE Saturday morning family tours and holding a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We will also be running a free activity every day of the summer holidays called the Art Tombola. Spin the drum to pick an art challenge and then whiz round the galleries to complete the activity.
This summer we will also be piloting two new trails. Why not come and test out our new early years 5 Things for Under 5’s trail and our hunt out our Top 10 Things for Teens. For a full listing of events click here.
