Watts Contemporary Gallery
Perdita Hunt OBE DL, Director of Watts Gallery Trust, is undertaking three physical challenges to raise funds for Watts Chapel, an Arts & Crafts masterpiece in urgent need of restoration.
On Saturday 20 August, she will be participating in the 13-mile Walk for Watts on the Pilgrims Way, joined by over 15 members of the Watts Gallery Trust team and 'Watts' himself.
On Saturday 24 September, Perdita will plunge into the Serpentine for a 1-mile swim, and on Sunday 24 October, she will run 10 miles in the Great South Run.
Each challenge has a close connection to Watts Gallery – Artists' Village. The Pilgrims Way passes along the boundary of Limnerslease and Watts Studios, part of the Artists' Village. The Serpentine is close to Watts's sculpture Physical Energy in Kensington Gardens. The Great South Run in Portsmouth looks across the Solent to the Isle of Wight where Watts had a home.
Support for each step or stroke of this journey will help with the training, the pain and the achievement. Above all, generous donations will secure the future of the Arts & Crafts masterpiece, Watts Chapel.
Financial support will demonstrate to other funders that this Grade-I listed building is of real importance to the local community and to visitors from across the world.
