Local Community of Compton
G F and Mary Watts were actively involved in their local community. G F Watts hired local apprentices while Mary Watts taught pottery workshops to local villagers and founded the Compton Potters' Arts Guild, as well as being an active member of the Godalming and District National Union of Women's Suffrage Society. Watts Gallery - Artists' Village continues this heritage by maintaining close ties with the village of Compton and businesses in the surrounding area.
Watts Cemetery was conceived and laid out between 1895 and 1898. The cemetery has a Grade II* listing from English Heritage.
