Artist in Residence Blog - The Ellen Terry exhibition and charcoal drawings

It has been easy to be inspired lately by the current Ellen Terry exhibition – combining theatre, art and history with such a fascinating story. In response I’ve been working on my latest piece on the subject of time and theatre called “Danse du Temps”, a charcoal drawing incorporating collaged images of dancers at the end of the 19th Century.

In the spirit of Watts’ desire to make art accessible to all, I have spent some time recently teaching inmates at Bronzefield prison and exploring with them the subject of Hope – inspired by Watts’ famous painting.

It’s a vibrant time to be at Watts with the Ellen Terry Exhibition, Limnerslease tours. activities for children, and the Peter Blake exhibition . Visitors to the gallery next Thursday 14th August will also be very welcome to come and see my work in progress at the next open studio from 2 till 4pm.
