Artist's Studio Museum Colloquium

Yesterday nine international speakers joined Watts Gallery at the first Studio Museum Colloquium.

Held at Limnerslease, the Watts House and Studios, the Colloquium launches a new Artist Studio Museum Network to promote international co-operation between museums devoted to the preservation of artists' studios.
Led by Watts Gallery Curator Nicholas Tromans, Senior Research Fellow Giles Waterfield and Trustee MaryAnne Stevens, 40 invited delegates enjoyed presentations from :

  • ­    Richard Calvocoressi - Director, Henry Moore Foundation
  • ­    Margarita Cappock – Head of Collections, Dublin City Gallery the Hugh Lane
  • ­    Martin Faass – Director, Max Liebermann Villa, Berlin
  • ­    Dario Gamboni – Professor, University of Geneva
  • ­    Anne Higonnet -  Professor, Columbia University, New York
  • ­    Natalya Polenova – Director, Polenovo Museum
  • ­    Amelie Simier – Director, Musee Bourdelle, Paris
  • ­    Tuija Wahlroos – Director, Gallen-Kallela Museum, Helsinki
Watts Gallery Curator Nicholas Tromans commented: "The event marks a major new venture for Watts Gallery, connecting us up with a fabulous selection of very special small museums across Europe.
