Exciting New Addition to the Watts Gallery Collection
Watts Gallery Trust are extremely grateful for a recent donation of two Ali Baba Jars. These pots are a unique acquisition as the Collection has not previously possessed such a design. The side of each pot has a Potters’ Art Guild stamp, indicating that they were produced in the early twentieth century when Mary Watts was manager.
The pots have be generously donated by Mary Ann Selfe, in memory of her mother Hilda. For several decades the pots were proudly on display in Hilda’s garden. With this in mind, the pots are in remarkable condition and have clearly been cared for. Both pots are currently on display in the Sculpture Gallery.
