Leave a Legacy

'The restored Watts Gallery is a sparkling jewel that will live on for at least another 100 years, but not without secure funding in place to ensure its survival. It is important that they can count on income from legacy bequests like ours to carry the Gallery forward for future generations to love and enjoy as we do.' — Peter and Jane Turner

For over 110 years Watts Gallery Trust has fulfilled the wish expressed in the will of G F and Mary Watts to provide Art for All and to protect and to preserve the Artists' Village estate and its Collection for future generations.

Leaving a legacy to Watts Gallery Trust now could not be more timely. We recently expanded to become a multi-venue site with the opening of Watts Studios in January 2016, and a project underway to save the artists' home, Limnerslease. This will make the Artists' Village the largest artist-inspired museum campus in the South East of England.

In 2014, Compton Parish Council asked Watts Gallery Trust to take on the long-term management of the Grade I listed Watts Chapel and Grade II* listed cemetery to ensure its preservation. As the estate grows, so too does our responsibility to care for, conserve and maintain these precious buildings and the works in them so that the legacy of our founders can live on for a further 100 years.

Leaving a gift in your Will will support the work that Watts Gallery Trust undertakes, as it strives for excellence in our learning and outreach programmes, exhibitions and care of the Collection, galleries and estate.

G F Watts supported 32 charities in his own lifetime. He was a pioneering philanthropist who gave large numbers of paintings to the National Portrait Gallery and Tate. Mary Watts left a legacy bequest to endow Watts Gallery. You too, have the potential to make a difference.
