Curator Picture Talks - P. H. Calderon
Free with admission
This ten minute talk will take you through this portrait of Phillip H. Calderon (1833-1895), as one of Watt's collection of eminent Victorians presently known as the 'Hall of Fame'. Watts was particularly pleased with how this particular portrait of Calderon, a fellow artist and friend of Watts, is 'so luminous and bright' to the point where he exclaimed that 'for the first time' Watts was on his way 'to a good thing'. This work therefore represents a euphoric moment in Watts' life which is not to be missed!
