Patrons have the rare privilege of visiting Damon de Laszlo's chambers in Albany, once occupied by Lord Byron. De Laszlo, a generous supporter of Watts Gallery - Artists' Village, is the grandson of the celebrated portrait painter Philip de László.

Hungarian-born de László was resident in London for most of his career in the first three decades of the 20th century, painting royalty, nobility and eminent men and women of the time across the continent. His powers of characterization and his bravura style of painting brought his sitters vividly to life and present a veritable portrait gallery of the age.

De Laszlo has inherited many family portraits, which show a more intimate and delightful side to his grandfather's art, as well as landscape sketches and figure studies. Who better to act as guide than Sandra de Laszlo, Damon's wife, who has been compiling the catalogue raisonné of the great man's huge oeuvre for some 20 years?
