Nic Fiddian-Green: The Head of Christ
20 March - 10 June 2012
Showcase Gallery
The sculptor Nic Fiddian Green is perhaps best known for his equestrian sculpture, inspired in part by Watts. Working primarily in bronze and beaten lead, he creates large iconic images. His series of heads of Christ grew from the sculptural process as a metaphor of Christ, the work being ‘born, to be broken and rise again.’ This exhibition shows his series of heads of Christ through sculpture, drawing and printmaking.
Nic held his first exhibition in 1986, and has since been in demand by galleries and collectors alike: his work is now shown regularly in London, New York and Australia. In addition he is well-known for carrying out major site-specific commissions: two recent monumental pieces have been Turning Horse for Glyndebourne Opera House in Sussex, and Horse’s Head in the Wind, for Treasury Holdings in Barrow Street, Dublin.
