This exhibition will coincide with a Watts Gallery study day on the Watts’s home Limnerslease. The exhibition will explore G.F. Watts and Mary Watts’s Compton home designed by Sir Ernest George and completed by 1891.
Initially, Limnerslease acted as an autumn and winter retreat for the couple but it soon became their permanent base for family life and work. From here the Wattses branched out into the village of Compton and built Watts Gallery, Compton Pottery with its studios and workshops and Watts Chapel.
The exhibition gives visitors the opportunity of seeing the studio furniture of G.F. Watts alongside historic photographs of Limnerslease.
