A Victorian Day at Watts Gallery

Explore the Victorian era with a visit to Watts Gallery and Chapel where you will discover acclaimed local artist G.F. Watts through his paintings, and learn about 19th century society, clothing and history.
A Costume Workshop allows the whole class to try on replica Victorian clothing inspired by portraits painted by Watts, including undergarments, rich, poor and aesthetic dress. Children can then direct the pose painted by Watts, take photographs and print them out.
Then choose one of two options:
1. Watts Chapel visit
2. Sculpture Gallery visit and researching G.F. Watts and the Victorians (resource sheets provided)
