The Tea Shop at Watts Gallery
'A delightful café in the old pottery on the North Down’s Way with a changing seasonal menu.' - Shirley and Jane Eat Surrey
The Tea Shop provides fresh, English seasonal food made on the premises and served by friendly staff. Watts Gallery Welsh Rarebit is on the menu, as is homemade seasonal soup, freshly-made sandwiches, salads and ploughmans. We serve superb coffee, freshly-ground for each cup and a variety of speciality teas. Please check our blackboards for daily specials.
The Tea Shop is licensed and offers a fine selection of wines, local beers, ales and ciders.
The building that currently houses the Tea Shop was built as a showroom for the Compton Pottery, established on this site in 1901 by Mary Watts. The crockery used in the Tea Shop was created exclusively for Watts Gallery by Grayshott Pottery using Ruskin Red glaze and is available from our Shop. Grayshott Pottery inherited the moulds from the original Compton Potters.
The Tea Shop welcomes families and highchairs can be provided, there are also baby changing facilities. Children's drawing activites are available, please ask a member of staff and they will be happy to accomodate you.
The Tea Shop has full wheelchair access.
We currently do not take any bookings for the Tea Shop and cannot reserve tables. Last orders are at 4.45pm.
All assistance dogs are welcome in the Tea Shop. Water bowls are available outside the Tea Shop for non-assistance dogs.
