Watts Gallery is founded on the principles of art for all. Watts and Mary Watts involved people in the community in the building of the Cemetery Chapel in Compton and in the Pottery on the Watts Gallery Estate. Watts Gallery has always relied on the kindness of volunteers from all walks of life. Today, over 120 people give their time and energy in numerous ways. We are always looking for more volunteers and invite you to consider giving some of your time to help us with our work, which is varied, interesting and very much needed.

Volunteer steward and office assistant,
Peggy Kearns, says:

"Helping out at Watts Gallery fills a gap in my time.
I enjoy meeting lots of people, learning about the paintings and helping to keep the office running smoothly. There is a lovely atmosphere of
camaraderie here."

Volunteers help out in a variety of ways including:

- Being Stewards in the gallery
- Giving guided tours
- Office administration
- Education and community outreach projects
- Technical and custodial assistance
- Gardening
- Archiving
- Watts Gallery Shop
- Events
- Historical research

In return for their help, we provide volunteers with an opportunity to learn more about the collection at Watts Gallery and we invite them to at least two functions during the year. We also provide training where appropriate. We’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in learning more about the opportunities available at Watts Gallery
