Create ceramic tiles with intricate designs inspired by the work of William De Morgan whilst exploring a technique developed by professional artist and tutor Joanna Veevers. Designs are created using an 'engraved' line and coloured slips on plaster which are transferred to the ceramic surface in a slip casting process.
Pre-booking required. Suitable for beginners and improvers. All materials provided. Lunch included.
Joanna Veevers completed a degree in Printed Textiles followed by an MA in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art. Her studies reinforced and informed an early fascination with drawing, pattern and surface which permeates all of her work, from slip cast tiles and wall pieces to jewellery, mosaics, drawings or prints. In addition to working as a freelance designer in Japan and on commissions ranging from mosaics for public spaces, commemorative awards and exhibitions, Veevers has over 20 years of teaching experience in art colleges and education departments in museums and galleries. She currently works at Dulwich Picture Gallery on a range of educational art programmes, outreach projects and short courses. Veevers is also a short course tutor at West Dean College.
