Woodlands & Gardens
Surrounding the stunning buildings of the Artists' Village, the woodlands were a source of inspiration and well-being for G F and Mary Watts. Explore the natural environment in the Wilfrid Blunt Woodland next to Watts Gallery.
Discover historical monuments such as Mary Watts's Celtic Cross and a small pet cemetery as you climb the winding path through the Watts Studios Woodland, making your way up to Watts Studios and Limnerslease.
Picnic spaces are located near both the Gallery and the Studios. The gallery lawn is an inspiring location for special events including the Woodland Fairy Fair and Museums at Night as well as private hires including drinks receptions, dinners, weddings and more.
The Artists' Village lies close to the North Downs Way and is alongside the Pilgrim's Way, making our Tea Shop the perfect refreshment stop for walkers and cyclists.
In the spring and summer, our woodlands are an excellent place to see great spotted woodpeckers, nuthatches, goldcrests, jays, bullfinch, owls and more and hear the dawn chorus of the rare firecrest.
