About Jo Shepherd

I am a painter. Painting for me is an obsession, a life-long love affair with paint founded on a deep rooted desire to create. I am primarily interested in portraiture but I have also often found inspiration in the woodland landscape around me.

When I'm not in the studio, I work with profoundly disabled people several times a week, delivering art sessions and also teach occasional life drawing workshops at Watts Gallery - Artists Village.

I exhibit my work regularly in both solo and group exhibitions and am also a member of Surrey Artists Open Studios, as such take part in their annual open studios event in June.

My portrait exhibition - FACE to FACE, celebrating people with profound and multiple disabilities - was featured on the BBC South Today news, and is on display at The Haslemere Educational Museum from 10th - 31st March 2018.

My work is held in private collections across the UK.
