Young Contemporary Talent
From 7 July 2018, The Lightbox is host to the cutting-edge and innovative exhibition, 'Young Contemporary Talent from The Ingram Collection', which will run until 16 September 2018.
This exhibition, drawn from the Young Contemporary Talent branch of The Ingram Collection, will include established and up-and-coming artists such as Haroon Mirza, Harrison Pearce, Victoria Sin and Steven Ingman. Boundary-pushing painting, sculpture, film and installation will all feature.
The Ingram Collection started collecting 'Young Contemporary Talent' to give emerging artists a helping hand early on in their careers, and works acquired are exhibited as part of The Ingram Collection's public loans and exhibition programme.
Jo Baring (Director & Curator of The Ingram Collection) says about the collection: 'The Young Contemporary Talent collection keeps us fresh and relevant! It is so important to see what young artists are making as they leave art school, and just as necessary to support them in those crucial few years after graduating while they navigate the art world.'
The annual Young Contemporary Talent Purchase Prize is open to all artists who have graduated from a UK art school within the last three years, and the shortlisted works are showcased in an exhibition at a central London gallery, where three winning works are purchased by The Ingram Collection.
In an exclusive talk at The Lightbox on Thursday 19 July 2018, Jo Baring speaks to two recent winners of The Ingram Collection's Purchase Prize, Steven Ingman and Harrison Pearce. Book your place and join them to hear their experiences of collecting and creating contemporary art in the context of the exhibition, and become an expert on all things 'young and contemporary'.
The Lightbox gallery and museum is situated alongside Woking's stunning Basingstoke Canal, a short walk from the town's train station. With three galleries, a Shop and a Café, as well as 'Woking's Story', a museum dedicated to exploring and celebrating Woking's heritage, there's plenty to keep you occupied at The Lightbox.
