Join artist and jeweller Kerry Tristram for this special masterclass to discover the alchemy and art of silver clay and create your very own fine silver jewellery.
As we celebrate the Cicely Mary Barker’s exquisite drawings of flowers and plants in the Gallery, take your inspiration from miniature natural forms such as acorns, leaves and other natural finds to create your own beautiful silver creations.
In this workshop you will learn the basic techniques of working with silver clay. Kerry will guide you through the process of crafting your won unique piece of handmade jewellery in fine silver using foraged botanical finds. You will learn how to make moulds of your natural forms, how to cast, fire and polish your silver clay and make a unique pendant.
This workshop is suitable for beginners. All materials, tools and equipment will be provided to create your artwork including 10g of art clay. You will leave with 1 – 3 simple pendant pieces depending on size. At an additional small cost (between £2 - £8), you will be able to choose from a selection of sterling silver chains or earring wires for your jewellery, which you can purchase direct from the artist on the day if you wish to do so.
In one day, this is a wonderful introduction to the magical world of silver clay. Learn how to make your own silver jewellery and walk away with a beautiful, unique, ready to wear piece for yourself or as a very special gift.
