Our latest exhibition, James Henry Pullen: Inmate - Inventor - Genius, tells the story of an outsider artist who spent nearly 70 years in the Royal Earlswood Asylum in Redhill, Surrey.
Unable to communicate, Pullen (1835-1916) devoted his time to ingenious invention, designing and constructing intricate and imaginative model boats and a fourteen-foot 'Giant'. His work offers a window into the Victorian asylum, and the mind of an extraordinary inventor confined within it.
Join an expert guide to explore the life, imagination and works of Pullen by examining his remarkable fantasy boats and drawings.
Please note: admission must be purchased in addition to a tour ticket.
