Head to Watts Studios to see where George and Mary Watts made their art, then make your own arts and crafts in our Make Space. All activities are inspired by our collections and exhibitions.



You're never too young or too old to be creative

The Make Space is suitable for all ages.


Event Details

Sunday 19 January:

Mod-roc tiles: Make a tile inspired by Mary Watts' ceiling decorations using felt, string and mod-roc. Includes a chance to visit Limnerslease, G F and Mary's House.


Sunday 26 January:

We make pots! Over 2019-2020 members of the local community and artists are all invited to make terracotta pots. The pots will be fired and become a part of the We Make Pots collection, which will be on display at Watts Gallery - Artists' Village in June 2020 as part of the Art for All exhibition.


Sunday 2 February:

Wax resist portraits: Inspired by William Orpen's painting techniques, create a silhouette using wax then experiment with inks to create colourful backgrounds for your character.


Sunday 9 February:

Printed notebooks: See Mary Watts's own treasured notebooks, before visiting the Make Space to fold a quick pocket notebook and personalise with your very own printed monogram cover.


Sunday 16 February:

Collage portraits: Mix and match faces and features from across the galleries and beyond, with cutting and collage to make portraits to take away.
