Head to Watts Studios to see where George and Mary Watts made their art, then make your own arts and crafts in our Make Space. All activities are inspired by our collections and exhibitions.


You're never too young or too old to be creative

Embossed foil design: draw a design into thin embossing foil to create an effective raised foil artwork.


Sunday 13 October

The Big Draw: 'Drawn to Life': be part of The World's biggest community of drawing enthusiasts!


Sunday 20 October

Plaster casting: make plaster casts of shells and other objects by creating impressions in plasticine.


Sunday 27 October

Geometric printmaking: draw geometric designs into Styrofoam to make layered and repeat pattern prints.

Armistice Day: Felted poppies


Sunday 17 November:

Mod-roc tiles: Make a tile inspired by Mary Watts' ceiling decorations using felt, string and mod-roc. Includes a chance to visit Limnerslease, G F and Mary's House.


Sunday 24 November:

Wax resist portraits: Inspired by William Orpen's painting techniques, create a silhouette using wax then experiment with inks to create colourful backgrounds for your character.


Sunday 1 December:

Celtic Christmas Weekend


Sunday 8 December:

Patterned paperweights: Decorate your very own beautiful glass paperweight with patterns and shapes to create a unique wintery design.


Sunday 15 December:

Children's Christmas Party: Following a tradition of children's parties hosted by G F and Mary Watts, join our merry Christmas party and take part in craft activities, stories and games.

Sunday 22 December:

Festive ornaments: Sculpt a candle holder, pot or ornament for the Christmas table using terracotta air-dry clay.


Sunday 29 December:

Wintery watercolours: Draw inspiration from the wintery woodlands and experiment with watercolour techniques


Sunday 5 January:

Printed notebooks: See Mary Watts's own treasured notebooks, before visiting the Make Space to fold a quick pocket notebook and personalise with your very own printed monogram cover.


Sunday 12 January:

Collage portraits: Mix and match faces and features from across the galleries and beyond, with cutting and collage to make portraits to take away.


Sunday 19 January:
