Let your imagination take you to the Moon and back this May Half Term. Make your own lunar landscape in creative workshops and hear stories from many moons ago.

Decorate a paper lantern inspired by the surface of the Moon using collaged tissue paper and sequins.

Have you ever gazed up at the Moon and wondered why it shines at night? Are the sun and Moon friends? Is the Moon made of green cheese? What would it be like to walk on the surface of the Moon? All of these questions will be answered in a magical interactive storytelling session with moon-gazer Olivia Armstrong.

Moonscapes Mission

Go on a journey to the Moon with this fun family trail. Find a marvellous mechanical moon model, discover early photographs of the Moon and meet the Moon goddesses who fascinated and inspired artists.

Available to collect from the Visitor Centre.

Make miniature models to create a group animation of an imaginary moon landing inspired by Moonscapes and the 1902 animation, A Trip to the Moon. What characters and creatures might you find on the Moon? And what would happen there?

We will be open until 9pm as part of Museums at Night, the UK-wide festival of Lates in museums and galleries.
