In July 2017 the V&A opens a new entrance and gallery on Exhibition Road, at the end of its biggest construction project since 1909. As part of the celebrations, curators have mounted an exhibition in the Architecture Gallery entitled Designing the V&A: The Museum as a Work of Art, 1857-1909 presenting historic designs and views of the building, with a new book of the same title.

Julius Bryant, Keeper of Word and Image, will introduce the exhibition and the many Victorian artists who contributed to its decoration including Leighton, Watts, Redgrave and Poynter.
