A visual spectacle featuring hundreds of beautiful birds, individually decorated by children from across Surrey.
During the Covid-19 lockdown, 2000 school children from Surrey primary schools have been getting creative at home with their very own Box of Delight; a special arts-based learning and wellbeing project that delivered art activities, materials and inspiration to take participants on a creative adventure.
Inspired by the work of George Frederic Watts, Mary Watts and beyond, the children's final creations – a collection of hundreds of beautifully decorated 3D birds – assemble this summer at Watts Gallery – Artists' Village in a special celebratory installation in the Limnerslease Woodlands, created by Paintbox artist Gina McAdam.
We would like to thank all the young artists and teachers at all of the Box of Delight participating schools. Participants with Golden Tickets may pre-book their free admission tickets in advance at wattsgallery.org.uk
Box of Delight is a Delight at Home project created by Surrey based charity Delight in collaboration with arts organisations Paintbox and Watts Gallery – Artists' Village, and delivered in partnership with Surrey primary schools.
This installation is located off the gravelled pathway in a woodland clearing.
This is accessed by an uneven inclined path which may not be suitable for wheelchair users.
Please ask a member of staff if you have any questions.
