Haunted happenings, creepy coincidences and unexplained encounters...

We have our fair share of spooky stories here at Watts Gallery - Artists' Village. Read on, if you dare, to hear more from our staff and volunteers.

“Years ago when one of the offices used to be a bedroom, one of our staff, heard someone in the middle of the night calling her name outside. Even more strangely, they were using her maiden name, which no one else knew...”

“A former Curator was locking up one night in the house, on the upstairs landing outside what is now the curatorial office. It was still the bedroom back then, she said the temperature suddenly dropped, and she felt something on the back of her neck that felt like someone’s hand! She ran out of there and all the way down to her car…

...There's definitely something going on around the old bedroom and bathroom in Limnerslease."

“When I was at my desk, and I was the only one in the curatorial office, I definitely heard an old lady voice murmuring behind me… scared me to death”

“I was working at the weekend over in the house and I was talking to the other steward on duty. She said that she had heard a man walking around and talking upstairs in the offices, and was Matthew (Head of Estates) working that day? As it was a weekend, he wasn't. When I was by myself in the house, I had to get a friend on the phone with me as I went around hunting for a ghost or intruder!”

“I was locking up the chapel one evening in November and saw a silhouette of a person in the door, but I was so freaked out I ran down the hill before I could take a photo”
