Paint and personalise your own ceramic bauble at this festive class - perfect for groups of all skill levels wanting a hands-on Christmas activity. Pieces will then be fired by Grayshott Pottery, and available for pick up one week later.
Join us for a festive bauble-decorating workshop in the Watts Contemporary Gallery, the light-filled space above our Shop that once housed the original Compton Pottery showroom. Choose a bauble in the Shop, then take it upstairs to decorate with a wonderful selection of glazes provided by Grayshott Pottery. Once finished, leave your creation with the team, who will take it away to be fired and finished ready for collection at a later date.
The workshop celebrates the rich ceramic heritage of Compton. In 1898, Mary Watts founded the Compton Potters’ Arts Guild to bring traditional craft skills to the local community. The Guild grew into the successful Compton Pottery, known for its distinctive terracotta and decorative works, and continued until 1956. Today, the Pottery building is home to our Shop and Contemporary Gallery, continuing Mary Watts’s spirit of creativity and enterprise.
Grayshott Pottery carries that legacy forward. Established in 1956 and connected to the Compton Pottery tradition, it is one of southern England’s few remaining working potteries, creating handcrafted English stoneware, studio ceramics and bespoke tableware from its Surrey studio.
A perfect seasonal activity for beginners and experienced makers alike - create a unique, personal decoration to treasure or give as a gift.
