About Reimagining the world of Turner: landscapes, life & legacy

Join us at Watts Gallery for a special morning of discussion and creativity as part of the Being Human Festival, presented in collaboration with the University of Surrey for Reimagining the World of Turner: Landscapes, Life & Legacy.

Step into the world of J. M. W. Turner and discover the changing landscapes of the Victorian art world through research, performance and creative writing. Explore the crossroads between artistic tradition and innovation, life and legacy, interior and exterior landscapes, personal and creative transformation, and observation and imagination.

Programme

  • Talk by a University of Surrey postgraduate researcher, whose novel explores Turner's world (30 mins)
  • Dramatic reading performed by a Guildford School of Acting student (20 mins)
  • Guided creative workshop inspired by Turner's expressive seascapes and skies (45 mins)
  • Interactive gallery activity exploring the connections between Turner and G F Watts. (30 mins)

After the event, you're welcome to spend the rest of the day exploring Watts Gallery, its collections and grounds at your own leisure.
