Join artist Chloe Nelson from Painting People for an inspiring day of outdoor painting in the woodland landscape and beautiful 18-acre grounds of Watts Gallery.
Working en plein air, you will paint with oils while drawing inspiration directly from the surrounding landscape, historic buildings, sculptures, and the beautiful Watts Chapel. No experience is required; these sessions are designed for complete beginners as well as those who already enjoy painting.
Through guided observation and a relaxed, artist-led approach, participants will be encouraged to slow down, look closely, experiment, and respond to the surrounding landscape, sculpture, and architecture through painting. Many participants are surprised by what they are able to create.
All materials are provided, and your workshop ticket also includes access to the gallery for the day, allowing time to explore the exhibitions and collections before or after your session.
There are two workshops during the day, each with a different focus. You may book one session or enjoy both (separate bookings apply):
Morning Session | 10 – 12.30pmSculpture & Observation
Painting inspired by the sculpture Physical Energy and the surrounding forms and textures.
Afternoon Session | 2 – 4.30pmLandscape & Atmosphere
An en plein air session responding to the gardens, woodland, architecture, and wider landscape.
