Join Artist in Residence Habib Hajallie for an insight into his ballpoint pen portrait practice. Be inspired by Habib’s powerful portraiture and exceptional draughtsmanship. Try for yourself, selecting backgrounds, considering composition, and creating your own drawings using pen. Work with images and a grid technique and hear how Habib uses variation in tone and marks to bring likeness and character to his subjects.

Habib Hajallie (b.1995) is an elected member of The Royal Society of British Artists and winner of The UK New Artist of The Year Award 2022. Habib has has just concluded a six month residency at The Watts Gallery Artist’s Village, through his ballpoint pen portraits he looks to empower often marginalised minorities through the exploration of identity.
