Taking its cue from Women of Influence: the Pattle Sisters in the historic galleries, our annual print exhibition this year focuses on the work of seven female printmakers, whose themes have echoes of the lives and interests of the Pattle sisters.
Covering travel and Ango-Indian subjects, along with photography, fashion, sisterhood and the place of women in the creative and literary worlds, the seven printmakers in the exhibition bring a wealth of colour, medium and artistic styles to Watts Contemporary Gallery.
Exhibiting artists include:
Clare Haxby – prints inspired by her travels to Singapore and Paris
Rosalind Hobley – cyanotypes of flower heads
Natasha Kumar – British Indian art, screenprints
Sonia Martin – sisterly-themed monochrome etchings, hinting at stories
Helen Murgatroyd – linocuts inspired by English village life and her travels in Nepal
Anine Cecilie – bold graphic prints inspired by fashion and flowers
