Watts Gallery is delighted to present The Quiet Between, a new exhibition by artist and wet plate collodion photographer Emma Brown in the Loft Gallery.
The exhibition marks the first public showing of Portrait of Watts 2024, created during Emma’s second residency at Watts Gallery. Made using the historic wet plate collodion process, the work brings together over 80 hand-crafted tintype portraits of the staff and volunteers who make up the Watts community and who continue to keep G. F. and Mary Watts’ vision of “Art for All” alive today.
Alongside this major work are selected pieces developed during Emma’s two residencies, exploring themes of slowness, presence and liminal space through one of photography’s earliest photographic processes.
