Take inspiration from the glorious painted ceiling of Watts Chapel and the ornate gesso ceiling panels at Limnerslease, Mary Watts’s Arts & Crafts home. Mary often used heart motifs and other symbolic imagery in her work — you will be encouraged to explore these ideas and develop your own unique designs.
On Day 1, you will be guided through creating your gesso design on board.
On Day 2, return to bring your piece to life with colour and metal leaf, inspired by the rich finishes of Mary Watts’s Chapel.
The workshop also includes a visit to Limnerslease to view the Mary Watts Gallery and ceiling panels. There will be an optional visit to Watts Chapel to experience Mary’s coloured gesso designs in situ.
