About Botanic Drawing: Everyday Beauty in Nature

Saturday 18 July 2026

10 – 12.30pm or
2 – 4.30pm

Join artist Anna-Marie Lamond for a contemporary, bright and bold approach to botanical drawing, inspired by Morris designs and the everyday beauty of the natural world.

In this workshop, you will take inspiration from designs featured in our exhibition The Art of Wallpaper: Morris & Co. and work directly from nature, creating careful observational drawings before developing them into your own decorative designs. Through the use of color and line, you will produce your own wallpaper swatch-a repeatable pattern inspired by both historic design and your individual creative response.

Anna will guide the session through drawing and mixed media, introducing a variety of techniques to develop your observational skills, build confidence in mark-making, and explore thoughtful ways of incorporating color into your work.

Anna-Marie Lamond

Anna-Marie Lamond (1993, U.K.) studied MFA Fine Art, Goldsmiths, graduating in 2019. She adopts a methodology of drawing as ecological engagement, through workshops, residencies and site-specific projects. Concerned with the wildness in the in-between, she focuses the ‘slow gaze’ of botanic drawing as facilitation to connect to everyday nature that may have been overlooked. Anna-Marie has exhibited across the U.K. and further afield, including recent solo exhibition Ajoloteria, ONCA Gallery, Brighton, 2024, and group show Re-Examining Conservation, Brown University, Rhode Island, 2022. She was Artist in Residence in the Fine Art Department, University for the Creative Arts, 2023, and Guapamacataro Art & Ecology Residency, Mexico, 2021.
