Wellbeing at Watts

Sometimes it can be hard to disconnect from the stresses of modern-day life, and pursue interests important to us. Art can play a vital role in helping us to escape pressures we feel and to unwind. According to a study by Art Fund 63% of people visit a museum or gallery to destress, 72% enjoy a creative activity and 87% take a walk in the fresh air to relax.

Built to exhibit the work of leading Victorian artist George Frederic Watts, Watts Gallery first opened its doors to the public on 1 April 1904. Upholding the artist’s belief that art plays a major part ‘in the world’s wellbeing’, today Watts Gallery continues to celebrate art in all its forms. And with 18 acres of grounds there's plenty of opportunity to get out into nature.

Whether you're looking to soak up nature, get creative or simply enjoy some escapism, we've pulled together some resources to help you. Let the stress wash away and enjoy!
