Celebrate spring at Watts Gallery this Easter holiday with a joyful, creativity-filled programme for families. Take part in hands-on workshops, or enjoy a relaxed wander through our beautiful galleries and grounds, discovering self-guided sketching and creative activities along the way.

Wednesday 1 April

Gelli Plate Printing
Discover the magic of gelli plate printing, a hands-on technique that transforms acrylic paint, decorative stamps, and image transfers into layered works of art. Each pull of the plate reveals a new unique print so no two artworks are ever the same!

Thursday 2 April

Animate Your Imagination!
Bring the Watts Gallery collection to life in this fun, hands-on animation workshop. Use simple animation techniques to add movement, character, and storytelling to artworks.
Each child will need an accompanying adult with a smartphone (we also have a limited number of iPads available). To finish, we’ll dim the lights and enjoy a mini cinema screening of everyone’s fantastic creations!

Friday 3 April

Modroc Medusas
G. F. Watts created a sculpture of Medusa to tell the story of the Greek goddess whose gaze could turn people to stone. In this Modroc workshop, we will create our own sculptural busts inspired by Medusa and other mythical beings.

Wednesday 8 April

Tetrapack Printing
Discover the exciting art of Tetrapak printing using recycled cartons in this hands-on printmaking workshop. Learn how to carve, ink, and print your own designs to create bold, textured artworks on paper — perfect for experimenting with pattern, line, and colour while reusing everyday materials.

Thursday 9 April

Air-Dry Clay Easter Creatures
Shape, texture, and decorate your own spring-inspired creatures!
Use air-dry clay to sculpt playful animals, eggs, and floral designs. Experiment with carving, stamping, and layering textures— perfect for an Easter keepsake you’ll treasure.

Friday 10 April

Pop-up Spring Gardens
Celebrate spring by creating your own beautiful pop-up garden using wire and colourful tissue paper. Cut, shape, and build delicate flowers and foliage to design a vibrant 3D artwork bursting with colour, texture, and imagination.
