What is there to see?

Explore Watts Gallery, the home and studio of our founders, Limnerslease: Artists' Home and visit our changing temporary exhibitions.

You can also see the Grade 1 listed Watts Cemetery Chapel and explore our extensive gardens and grounds.

Make sure to stop off at the Tea Shop and Shop.

Situated above the Shop is Watts Contemporary Gallery, with a changing exhibition programme and all artworks for sale.

You will also find K D Fine Art above our Shop. This is a separate business to us, which offers picture framing, gifts, cards and prints.

How long should I spend here?

It would be very easy to spend all day here, as there is so much to see and do. However, if you are short on time use these guidance times to plan your visit:

Watts Gallery (includes Historic Galleries, De Morgan Gallery, Sculpture Gallery and Temporary Exhibition): 1 hour

Limnerslease: Artists' Home (includes G F Watts Studio, Mary Watts Gallery, Compton Gallery and House): 1 hour

Watts Cemetery Chapel: 45 mins

Watts Contemporary Gallery: 15 minutes

You can stop off at the Tea Shop, Shop and Visitor Centre as part of your visit.

You can also explore our Gardens and grounds. This includes woodland areas, Bench 1, our wooden amphitheatre, and the Verey Playwood for families. The Playwood has steppingstones, swings and plenty of room to play.

Where do I go upon arrival?

At the Visitor Centre, you will be able to buy tickets. You can also book online in advance. You will also find our Shop, Tea Shop and Watts Contemporary Gallery here.

Our team will be able to point you in the right direction for where you would like to visit, as well as give you a map and answer any questions.

If you plan to visit Limnerslease: Artists' Home, we recommend this as your first stop after the Visitor Centre. Here you will find out about the history of Watts Gallery and more about George and Mary Watts.

Tickets are needed to visit Watts Gallery and Limnerslease: Artists' Home.

It is free to visit Watts Cemetery Chapel, Watts Contemporary Gallery, and our Shop and Tea Shop.

How do I find you?

We are based in Compton, Surrey. Our address is Down Lane, Guildford, GU3 1DQ.

It's important to us to be as accessible as possible. Our team will do whatever we can to ensure that you have an enjoyable visit.

Companions and carers receive free entry to our site when accompanying a paying visitor with access needs.

Is car parking available?

Free parking is available at Watts Gallery - Artists' Village until 5.30pm each day when the gates are locked.

There are car parks on both sides of our site, at Watts Gallery and Limnerslease: Artists' Home, follow the parking signs on your arrival. There is a short walk of approximately five minutes between the two sides of our site.

Blue Badge spaces are available at the Visitor Centre and Shop and at Limnerslease: Artists’ Home.

Please note that there is a short uphill walk to Limnerslease. Visitors with access needs can be dropped off at the top of the road before parking, please ask at the Visitor Centre for more information.

Do you have food and drink on site?

Yes, our Tea Shop is open daily. We offer table service and takeaways.

You can also bring your own food with you to enjoy at one of our picnic spots. Food and drink are not allowed in our galleries.

Do you have toilets available?

Yes, toilets including accessible toilets and baby-change facilities are available by the Tea Shop, in Watts Gallery and at Limnerslease: Artists' Home.

Do you allow dogs or pets?

We welcome service or support dogs, including those in training. Pet dogs are not allowed indoors, this is to ensure the health and safety of our visitors and spaces, maintain high hygiene standards and ensure the care of our collections.

Pet dogs can enjoy our outdoor spaces and Shop. There are plenty of places to go for a walk around our grounds. Water and Scoop's Ice Cream for Dogs is available in our Tea Shop with outdoor seating. Find out more about visiting with your dog.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving early to enjoy all the site has to offer, however, if you only have a couple of hours to spare, make sure you arrive by 3pm to allow yourself time to visit Limnerslease: Artists' Home as well as Watts Gallery, Watts Contemporary Gallery, Shop and Tea Shop.

Can I smoke?

Smoking is not permitted on our site.

What are your Covid-19 measures?

We do not require visitors to wear a mask. We operate a one-way system in the galleries, as well as providing hand sanitiser and operating enhanced cleaning regimes.

Do you have an audio guide?

Audio tours are available on the Smartify app. Smartify is a free museum app that allows you to scan artworks and access audio tours on your phone.

Smartify is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. We recommend you download the app before your visit, we also recommend bringing headphones.

Once you are in our galleries you will see Smartify labels with QR codes in various places. You can scan these QR codes with your phone to listen to our Smartify audio tours.

Please ask a member of our team if you need help with Smartify.

You can also access our Smartify tours from home.

Can I talk to someone about my visit?

Is my ticket valid for events?

Most of our booked events are separately ticketed, you will find booking information on our What’s On pages.

Some activities, tours and talks that take place regularly are included in your entry ticket. See our What’s on page and individual event pages to find out more.

Do you issue ticket refunds?

Admission tickets

If you are unable to visit at your booked date/time please get in touch in advance. We will do our best to move your booking for you.

Event tickets

We are unable to refund event tickets unless the event has been cancelled. If an event is cancelled we will get in touch with you to organise your refund.

Can I buy an admissions ticket on the day?

Yes, you can do this at our Visitor Centre.

How do I become a member? How can I support Watts Gallery - Artists' Village?

There are various different ways you can help support us at Watts Gallery - Artists' Village.

You can make a donation to our charity, or buy a Friends membership for yourself or as a gift. Friends membership is available to buy at our Visitors Centre and online.
